Comments made by Republican California Rep. Dana Rohrabacher in a Tuesday radio interview suggest he has information that would absolve Russia of allegations that it hacked the Democratic National Committee.

Rohrabacher met with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange two weeks ago in the Ecuadorian embassy in London where Assange took asylum after facing now-dropped sexual assault charges in Sweden.

Rohrabacher told The Daily Caller recently that Assange promised him information about who was behind the DNC hack that the American intelligence community has said Russia was involved with.

In the interview, Rohrabacher told TheDC that once he obtained this information and determined that it is significant, he would “bring it directly to Trump.”

His spokesman Kenneth Grubbs told TheDC “no comment” Tuesday about whether Rohrabacher has received these documents. However, the congressman told Sean Hannity Tuesday that a meeting between him and Trump is being set up.

“It is my understanding from other parties who are trying to arrange a rendezvous with myself and the President, it is being arranged for me to give him the firsthand information from [Assange],” Rohrabacher said in comments first highlighted by CNN.

The Justice Department is reportedly looking into charging Assange for helping former NSA analyst Edward Snowden disseminate classified information, but Rohrabacher told TheDC that Assange could likely be pardoned by President Trump for giving the U.S. “information that will be of dramatic importance.”

Individuals can be pardoned before being charged of a crime. “He can’t even leave the embassy to get out to Washington to talk to anybody if he doesn’t have a pardon. Obviously there is an issue there that needs to be dealt with, but we haven’t come to any conclusion yet,” Rohrabacher told TheDC.
