President Donald Trump asked why there was so much “ferocious anger” directed at him in the wake of this trip to Texas on Twitter Wednesday.
“After reading the false reporting and even ferocious anger in some dying magazines, it makes me wonder, WHY? All I want to do is #MAGA,” the president tweeted.

CNN’s Jeff Zeleny criticized President Trump’s response, saying that he lacked the emotion and empathy required of such a huge national tragedy.
“One thing I am struck by here, seeing all the stories of emotion, all the stories of loss, of devastation still unfolding — we do not know the extent of the damage here — very little in terms of empathy from the president,” the CNN reporter said on air. “Very little in terms of emotion or talking directly to the people of Texas. He’s been talking about the businesses, talking about the response and his crowd.”
The president flew to Texas to meet with local officials, as well as Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. He also used his 10 million person donor network to raise money for charities helping victims displaced by Hurricane Harvey.
“Probably there’s never been anything so expensive in our country’s history,” Trump said. “There’s never been anything so historic in terms of damage and in terms of ferocity as — as what we’ve witnessed with Harvey.”
Abbott came to the president’s aid following his remarks to large crows in Texas.
“The president was heartbroken about what he saw,” Abbott said about Trump’s response. “He is committed to ensuring that Texas can rebuild.”
