Not only does Cam Newton think that Colin Kaepernick should be on an NFL roster, but he thinks he should have a starting job as a quarterback.

The controversial quarterback who disrespected America for the entirety of the 2016-17 NFL season with his national anthem protest is still unemployed. However, the Carolina Panthers quarterback believes “it’s unfair” that Kaepernick isn’t on a roster any longer.

Newton addressed the Kaepernick controversy with the media on Tuesday ahead of the Panthers trip to San Francisco to take on Kaepernick’s former team. (RELATED: Cam Newton Salutes Kaepernick For ‘Taking A Stand For Injustice’)

“I really think it’s unfair. I think it’s unfair,” Newton said of Kaepernick being unemployed.

“Not to take any storm or glory away from this game–we’re trying to find every way to be prepared for the 49ers come Sunday–but in my own opinion do I think Kaepernick is better than some of these starting quarterbacks in this league? Absolutely. Should he be on a roster, in my own opinion? Absolutely. There’s no question about it. Is he good enough to be on a roster? Is he good enough to be a starting quarterback? Absolutely. But our main focus right now is trying to beat the 49ers on Sunday,” Newton concluded.

The Panthers star player voiced his support for Kaepernick in September of last year around the same time that riots broke out in Charlotte, North Carolina, after Keith Scott was shot and killed by police.

However, Newton was careful not to go to far believing he’s in a position where if he says something he’ll be criticized and if he doesn’t he’s flawed.
