A tiger was shot and killed by police after attacking a pet dog near Atlanta, Ga., Wednesday.

People initially told the police that they saw the tiger from a highway, reported abc10 Wednesday. The tiger was then spotted around 6 a.m. Wednesday around 20 miles from Atlanta, added the Huffington Post Wednesday.

The police were able to locate the tiger near a residential area. While calling animal control, the tiger made its way to a backyard of a house and began attacking a dog. The police then shot and killed the tiger due to it being close to a school, said the Henry County Police Department in a statement on Facebook.

“She’s a little shaken up. I’m sure she’s had better mornings,” said Brittney Speck, owner of the dachshund, Journey, which was attacked by the tiger.

It is still unclear where the tiger initially came from.
