Speaker of the House Paul Ryan’s former chief of staff is taking over the role of senior principal at the green energy consulting and lobbying firm 38 North Solutions, Axios reports.

As a former Hill staffer, Dave Hoppe has deep ties with lawmakers in Congress. Also, coming from the right side of the aisle when the Trump administration has thrown its support behind fossil fuel development is a boon for the clean energy group, Axios reports.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dave to 38 North,” 38 North Solutions chair Katherine Hamilton said in a press release announcing Hoppe’s addition. “His vast experience in public policy and political strategy complements our team’s expertise in clean energy and technology innovation.”

Hamilton and Hoppe worked together at Quinn Gillespie, a public communications firm, before the energy team broke with the firm and formed 38 North. The two restored colleagues are working with 38 North’s managing partner Issac Brown, who previously served as legislative director and floor assistant to Democrat Rep. Jan Schakowsky.
