Country Music Star Troy Gentry Killed In Helicopter Crash

Troy Gentry of the popular country music duo Montgomery Gentry has died in a helicopter crash.

Details of the crash, which occurred in Medford, New Jersey around 1 pm are mostly unknown, but the band confirmed the tragic news with a statement posted to their Twitter account Friday afternoon.

“It is with great sadness that we confirm that Troy Gentry, half of the popular country duo, Montgomery Gentry, was tragically killed in a helicopter crash,” the statement said. “Troy Gentry’s family wishes to acknowledge all of the kind thoughts and prayers, and asks for privacy at this time.”

Gentry and the pilot, who also died in the crash, were the only two people aboard the helicopter when it went down at the Flying W Airport in New Jersey, according to the Associated Press.

Montgomery Gentry was scheduled to hold a concert on Friday evening at the same airport where the crash occurred, according to the statement from the band.

Troy Gentry was 50 years old.
