Police “contained” a suspected gunman on the campus of New Hampshire’s largest hospital Tuesday afternoon, following reports of an active shooter.

Police said an active shooter situation took place at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock hospital in Lebanon, N.H. at 1:27 p.m. Tuesday.

The Dartmouth-Hitchcock spokesman Mike Barwell told local media the hospital reported an “incident” to police, but would not speak more on the matter. There have not been any injuries or fatalities reported.

Schools in the area were temporarily locked down. The main Dartmouth College campus, however, was not locked down and classes weren’t canceled, according to a report by Dartmouth’s college paper.

In an email alert to staff earlier Tuesday afternoon, Dartmouth-Hitchcock said police were searching for a male, 6’1″, with salt and pepper blonde hair, and wearing a red camouflage shirt, according to a local New Hampshire news source. He was reportedly carrying a camouflage backpack.

The hospital released a statement on Twitter about the situation that said the local and state police were on-site.
