This past Sunday as the Lions opened their NFL season, a fan sat in the stands and was not happy that other fans near him did not stand for the national anthem.
The fan took the photo of two African-American fans sitting during the anthem and wrote the caption, “Ignorant N—–s”. After he posted the snapchat, the post was found on Facebook and eventually went public by Wednesday.
Man, this hits hard… smh greatly disappointed, yet not a bit surprised. Completely ashamed for these people and disgusted by this “fan.” https://t.co/rj1UiS3iQx

The team responded with this statement,”Providing our fans with a safe and enjoyable experience at all Ford Field events is of the utmost importance and an absolute priority for our organization. A core component of our guest conduct policy is the expectation that all fans are respectful and considerate to each other regardless of their personal beliefs or differences. With respect to the issue in question, the Detroit Lions and Ford Field do not comment on specifics related to any alleged guest incident(s) or altercations at games or other stadium events.”
Head coach Jim Caldwell said, “I think it was handled appropriately and I think those things happen sometimes.”
This is not the first time a fan has been banned from Ford Field. In 2014 a fan pointed a laser at a player during a game and was asked not to return.
