Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee condemned London’s terror attack Friday, calling the attackers “evil” fanatics that have “co-opted Islam.”

“This is not a Muslim issue, this is a terrorist issue. People have co-opted Islam and made it their justification for killing people,” Huckabee said on “America’s Newsroom.” “And so we need to join with people of the Islamic faith in saying this is unacceptable. This is not religion. This is fanaticism, and it’s evil.”

Huckabee said European countries are finally beginning to realize how dangerous their open border policies have made the continent, and he believes that people are afraid of going about their daily lives.

“They have to be getting to the place where they realize that terrorism is alive and well … people are genuinely afraid to do the most basic things,” he said. “Whether go shopping or go to work because in this case, you have terrorists who are going after people like children. And there’s nothing worse than the fear of just doing your everyday activities.”

Huckabee said “going to the source” is the only way to prevent future attacks, and it is time to “say enough is enough” with regard to radical Islam.

“All over Europe whether its Barcelona, Paris, Brussels, London — there’s no safe place. Europe is becoming a very frightening place to be for many people. Because the open borders are simply not working,” Huckabee said.
