Howard Dean called members of President Trump’s voter fraud commission who met in New Hampshire this week “crackpots” and “racist” on MSNBC’s “AM Joy” Saturday.
“This is a committee of crackpots,” Dean said.
“These are crack pots. They’re dangerous crackpots. They’re undermining the right to vote and they are racist,” Dean added.
The segment was about President Trump’s voter fraud commission, led by Kansas secretary of state Kris Kobach, which convened in New Hampshire this week.
Dean’s argument that investigating voter fraud is “racist” echoes an oft-repeated claim from liberals that voter ID laws disproportionally affect African-Americans and other minorities.
Many liberals like Dean deny that voter fraud exists at all. A number of anecdotal examples have been documented, but there has not yet been proof of a widespread issue.
CNN previously criticized the voter fraud commission for having too many white men. (RELATED: CNN Is Mad Because ‘White Men’ Speak At Trump Voter Fraud Commission)
President Trump once alleged that millions of illegal votes were cast in the 2016 election:
In addition to winning the Electoral College in a landslide, I won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally
