Bobby Moynihan, a former cast member on Saturday Night Live, said last season’s focus on politics and President Trump “wasn’t his favorite.”

During an interview with “CBS This Morning,” Moynihan seemed to criticize the show’s political bent, arguing that the purpose of SNL is to entertain people. Moynihan left SNL after being on the show for nine years, and said that “last season” felt different to him because of the heavy focus on politics.

“[Last season] was just a different season,” he said. “It was very politics heavy, very Trump heavy and that’s not necessarily my favorite.”

Moynihan was careful not to be too critical of the show, but did seem disappointed in the show’s changing direction.

“Like, for me, SNL was very very talented comedians playing characters and entertaining people so I missed that part of it a little bit,” he stated. “But, you know, it’s SNL.”
