A middle school music teacher in Atlanta assigned a profanity-laced rap song as a homework assignment to students, WSB-TV reported Tuesday night.
The assignment included sexually explicit lyrics, references to acts of violence, and profanity such as the “n-word.” The students were instructed to change the song’s words into positive lyrics.

The song in the assignment was “Drowning” by rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie from New York City. The song features lyrics such as “Sniper Gang I put a n—- on a carton,” and “She call me daddy, but I ain’t her m———— father.”
The school district removed the teacher from the classroom after a concerned mother reported the incident.
Chrishana Wright, the mother of sixth-grader Kalani told WSB-TV that the assignment was “really against everything” she tries to teach her children.
“I’m reading all these words, and I immediately asked her why she had this, and she said it was an assignment,” Wright continued.
The superintendent of the school district responded with a statement denouncing the assignment.
“The assignment was inappropriate, unacceptable and contrary to our standards. The employee responsible has been removed from the classroom and will be held accountable for such poor judgment. While we encourage teacher creativity, the expectation is that the instruction is always standards-based and age appropriate,” the statement said.
