Shania Twain has been noticeably absent from the music industry for years, but it wasn’t by choice.

The 52-year-old country star has been open about her struggle with Lyme’s disease, which damaged her voice so badly that at one point she feared she might never sing again. It’s been a long road to recovery for Twain and her voice, but she’s back and ready to take the stage again.

“I feel triumphant,” Twain said, in a recent interview ahead of the release for her new album “Now,” Fox News reports. (RELATED: Watch Shania Twain Perform On Opening Night Of The U.S. Open)

“I just feel like I’ve climbed this huge mountain and I made it to the top. And, you know, coming from a time when I really thought I would never record an album again, that I would never tour again, that I would never sing professionally again,” she explained. “And now here I am with a whole album. It’s like a small miracle really for me personally.”

Twain was a country sensation in the 1990s and early 2000s with hit songs like “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!,” “You’re Still The One” and “That Don’t Impress Me Much.” Her Lyme’s disease sidelined her for nearly two decades and, after training much like an athlete recovering from an injury, she’s about to release her first album in 17 years.

Twain’s comeback album, “Now,” will be released on September 29.
