A triple shark split in a nutshell: you blow an O, then inhale one of the corners, and stretch the O by pulling it almost half way around, causing the middle of the O to compress and then split off into three O’s. Yes, I know it is a bit confusing, which is why I included the video below so you can follow along.
Okay, so what do you need to know to do the triple shark split? First, the size of the O matters. It should be a smaller to medium size O. If it is too large it will be more difficult to complete. So, first blow the O, then inhale the O at 10 o’clock/11 o’clock as you whip your head around it, while stretching it, to form the compression that splits the O. The trickster in the video says that when you start the inhale, you want to inhale it as if you were sucking on a straw. Then, at the end, say 7 or 8 o’clock, you stop the inhale and open your mouth quickly ensuring not to inhale any further. But, as you are inhaling around the O, you must stretch the O as far as you can, before letting go and opening your mouth. It is all about momentum and practice to get this part right. He indicates that in order to create the triple shark split, the initial O must be moving fast. The movement and momentum of the O, along with the process of stretching the O, produces three smaller O’s. At the very end when you stop the inhale and open your mouth, you wan to turn your face away quickly, so the three O’s split properly and shoot in different directions.
