There is no longer any timetable for Johnny Manziel to head to the Canadian Football League.

TSN reporter David Naylor reported Tuesday that the former Cleveland Browns quarterback is not close to signing with a CFL team, despite many reports that he could be close.

He tweeted, “Getting lots of ?’s via Twitter about Johnny Manziel this morning. I’m told nothing imminent nor close at this time. .”

The deadline for the CFL to make a decision on the Texas A&M Heisman winning quarterback has been pushed back indefinitely, according to Naylor.

This is pretty disappointing news for those of us who have been following Manziel’s comeback. It looked like the infamous gunslinger was finally bound for pro football paychecks once again, but it now seems like that might not be happening for awhile.

I still hold out hope that he can someday make a return because that’d be one hell of a comeback story.
