The first trailer for Paramount Network’s upcoming series “WACO” was released Tuesday.

The plot of the series, according to IMDB, is, “The FBI and ATF seize religious leader, David Koresh’s Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas in the spring of 1993.”

It clearly tells the horrifying and infamous tale of the Branch Davidian compound siege in Waco, Texas.

Viewers don’t get too much of a look of what to expect in the first trailer, but it does a nice job of setting the tone of an intense, terrifying and violent series.

The siege at the Branch Davidian compound is a part of history I’ve been fascinated with for years. The lead up investigation, the initial shootout, the following siege, the actions by the federal forces and Branch Davidian members during the final assault, and the aftermath are some of the most interesting moments in recent American history.

Having Taylor Kitsch, who was Tim Riggins in “Friday Night Lights,” play cult leader David Koresh is an outstanding casting decision. Kitsch is one of the best actors in the game right now, and I have no doubt the audience will love him as the cult leader that got dozens of people killed.
