Researchers in Burlington, Vt., named a new spider species after famous Democrats on Tuesday.

Professor Ingi Agnarsson discovered a new spider species with fellow researchers at The University of Vermont, which they named the Spintharus berniesandersi,  reported Yahoo! News. The name comes from Bernie Sanders, Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Leonardo DiCaprio and David Bowie. The species is composed of 15 different spiders, added Sci-News.

Previously the spiders were referred to as smiley-faced spiders for the smiley face pattern on their abdomens. Considering the spiders come from many different types of species, researhers wanted to give a more recognizable name.

“The students and I wanted to honor people who stood up for both human rights and warned about climate change — leaders and artists who promoted sensible approaches for a better world,” said Agnarsson.

The spiders are from geographically diverse regions, being found in North and South America and the Caribbean.
