I’m not a fan of the sports, but I know a lot of people are. They like the base-ball and the basket-ball and the foot-ball and whatnot. It all seems like a lot of foofaraw to me, but it’s not hurting anybody. Well, except for the players who suffer horrific, debilitating injuries for the pleasure of the crowd. But for everyone else, it’s just a harmless diversion. That’s why I have no problem following the advice of Delanie Walker of the Titans of Tennessee.

Walker has some advice for fans who are upset by the team’s refusal to take the field for the National Anthem last Sunday. Jason Wolf, The Tennessean:

Don’t come to the game.

That’s the message a couple of the Titans’ star players have for any outraged fans threatening to turn their back on the team…

“First off, I’m going to say this: We’re not disrespecting the military, the men and women that serve in the Army. That’s not what it’s all about,” Titans tight end Delanie Walker said…

“And the fans that don’t want to come to the game? I mean, OK. Bye. I mean, if you feel that’s something, we’re disrespecting you, don’t come to the game. You don’t have to. No one’s telling you to come to the game. It’s your freedom of choice to do that.”

He’s absolutely right. It’s your money, and if you’d rather not give any of it to your local NFL team, nobody can force you to. You can spend your money and time on more worthwhile pursuits, such as… well, pretty much anything besides going to a football game.

With just a few tweets, President Trump has convinced a bunch of wealthy athletes to bend the knee to him, and to alienate any sports fans who don’t like it. The only power Trump has over these guys is the power they’re giving him. And they just can’t seem to stop.
