A Massachusetts man was charged Wednesday with murdering his wife, bleaching the scene to hide the evidence, and then meeting a dealer to buy cocaine with his baby in the backseat of the car.

Andrew MacCormack, 29, was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife Vanessa, 30, after she was found dead Saturday, the New York Post reported. Prosecutors have also claimed that MacCormack purchased cocaine while his infant daughter was in the car.

Police found MacCormack’s wife brutally murdered, having suffered multiple wounds and blunt force trauma to the head. MacCormack reportedly went to great lengths to hide the murder and tried to remove all evidence by bleaching the crime scene, according to prosecuting attorneys.

Authorities believe that the couple was having financial problems and his wife suggested filing for divorce. “I hate you so much you’ve ruined [our daughter’s] life because she won’t have her parents together,” she wrote in a text Aug. 31, according to court documents. “I’ll talk to [agent] tomorrow about listing the house and I’ll look into divorce lawyers.”

MacCormack denied any wrongdoing, and he broke down crying in the courtroom. His next appearance in court is scheduled for Oct. 17.
