Air Force Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. Jay Silveria delivered a rousing speech in response to a series of potential hate crimes Thursday.

“If you demean someone in any way, then you need to get out, and if you can’t treat someone from another race or a different color skin with dignity and respect, then you need to get out,” Silveria declared to the entire student body. “What we should have is a civil discourse and talk about these issues. That’s a better idea,” he continued.
Silveria’s remarks followed the scrawling of some racial epithets near the dorms of Air Force Academy prep students. He demanded students take out their phones during the speech so his remarks would go viral.
