President Donald Trump will “make a decision tonight” on the fate of Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price after a scandal involving Price’s use of private jets.
“He’s a very fine man but we’re going to make a decision sometime tonight,” Trump told reporters on Friday. “He’s a very fine man.”
“I think it’s a shame because as a human being I think he’s a very good man,” Trump said. “Something today probably will be announced. I think he’s a very fine person but I don’t like the optics…something is going to happen.”
Many have called for Trump to fire Price after it was revealed that the HHS secretary had racked up $1 million in travel costs on the taxpayer’s dime since May. Price promised to repay the cost of his “seat” on the flights,
“I will tell you personally, I’m not happy about it. I am not happy about it I’m going to look at it. I let him know it,” Trump said about the issue earlier this week. “We’ll see,” he said when asked if he would fire Price.
