One of America’s most popular recording artists, rapper Future, may win the award for Most-Insensitive-Tweet-Of-The-Day.
And, trust me, there were many nominees.
Just hours after the largest mass shooting in United States history in Las Vegas, Future’s official twitter account posted a photo to his 4.5 million followers – promoting his upcoming concert in Las Vegas.

It’s unclear if the 33-year-old rapper, whose real name is Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn, tweeted the promo himself, or if it was someone within his social media staff.
Many have suggested that the post was a scheduled tweet. This is plausible, but if that were the case, it doesn’t explain two things:
A) If the tweet was scheduled, why wasn’t it cancelled following the attack? Surely, someone who has access to the account had the opportunity to stop it from becoming public.
B) If the tweet was scheduled, and Future’s social media staff didn’t realize the insensitivity of it to cancel the post in time, why was it not immediately deleted?
For someone who makes an estimated $23 million per year, there’s no reason he shouldn’t be able to afford a competent PR team.
Future’s music theme is centered on guns, drugs, and women. And women seem to sit third on that list in terms in terms of respect and importance, according to his song lyrics.
Many of his songs actually promote gun violence. Here are a few:
“If they gon’ shoot, then shoot something. We better hear ’bout this shit on the news or something.”
“Ni**as gon’ pull up and spray in broad…Choppa hit a ni**a with the scope…Turn the hood into Iraq…”
“Get up and get at it, guns like I’m Bin Ladin…”
“I just wanted to leave with all shooters, I just left the club with all shooters. I became the plug got all the shooters. I get molly, percocets to all the shooters. Northside, Eastside, Westside, Southside, all shooters…”
Even if you’re not familiar with Future’s music, you’ve probably seen him featured in a new television commercial for The Gap with Cher.
At best, the tweet shows a complete lack of self-awareness. At worst? Well, I’m not going offer detailed speculation there.
