Dan Bilzerian snapped into action and rushed an injured woman to the hospital during the chaos of the mass shooting that took place in Las Vegas Sunday night.

The Instagram star was backstage at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival when shots rang out, resulting in the death of over 50 people and injuring hundreds more. As the shooter fired off hundreds of rounds from a nearby hotel room, Bilzerian rushed an injured woman to the hospital and then returned to the scene of the attack with a gun.

Bilzerian shared a video to his Instagram story describing the event as he ran from the scene to get his gun.

“I don’t think it was heroic at all,” Bilzerian told People of his actions Sunday night. “I just wanted to do the right thing.”

The 36-year-old social media star says he was on stage hanging with country singer Jake Owen when the shooting began at the Mandalay Bay concert.

“It sounded like firecrackers,” Bilzerian recalled, “which is what it sounds like when supersonic bullets are flying over your head.”

“I was pretty calm, all things considered, but I definitely ran to safety,” he added.

After Bilzerian realized what was happening and saw a female lying dead on the ground from a gun shot wound to the head, he grabbed another victim who was injured and rushed her to the hospital.

“I don’t know the extent of her injuries,” he explained. “She could barely talk.”

Rather than stay away after rushing the woman to the hospital, Bilzerian went to get his own gun and returned to the scene. But when he arrived, law enforcement had the situation under control.

“It was a pretty strong wake up call,” he says. “This stuff can happen without warning anywhere. It’s not smart to get caught without a gun.”
