Pop singer Katy Perry said prayers are powerless Wednesday on “Good Morning America” in response to the Las Vegas shooting that left 59 people dead and hundreds injured.

Perry responded to questions about performers’ perspectives on the worst mass shooting in American history alongside her American Idol co-judges, saying “prayer without action is powerless.”

“I think the one thing that we have to remember is that prayer without action is powerless and we have to have to some action and we have to take a unfortunate good hard look at what our rules and our boundaries are with gun reform,” Perry said.

We have to put our foot down more than just sending our condolences, because honestly like I get really sick to my stomach just(seeing)  everyone saying, sending their condolences and then going back to selfying, you know, and doing their regular stuff,” Perry said. “That is not enough. When is it going to be enough?”

She made an impassioned plea for gun control reform, as opposed to praying, throughout the segment, and specifically decried access to “assault weapons” without defining what constitutes an “assault weapon.”

No one’s saying take away your guns but we just don’t necessarily need assault rifles, assault weapons, we need a I think a good hard look at gun reform and you know the hands that these guns are being placed in, and I just think that’s kind of one of the answers,” Perry said.
