CNN and MSNBC have continually demonstrated their utter ignorance about firearms and the surrounding laws since the Las Vegas shooting on Sunday night.

WATCH:

The networks have spread incorrect information about the legality of modifying a semi-automatic gun to fire in automatic mode, the legality and use of bump stocks, and the purpose and effects of firearm suppressors. Anchors on CNN and MSNBC simultaneously called for gun control and bemoaned current gun laws all while sharing the misinformation.

In one of the most baffling exchanges, MSNBC interviewed Manny Gomez, a former FBI agent, who claimed the reason hunters use suppressors is to prevent deer from hearing gun shots. Most firearm enthusiasts actually use suppressors to protect from hearing loss, but other pundits guessed that argument is a “ruse” by 2nd Amendment activists to legalize suppressors for criminal activity.

Several analysts and anchors guessed that if the Las Vegas shooter had used a suppressor, it would “effectively silence” his weapon or make it “quiet,” even though guns that are suppressed are still as loud as a jackhammer.

CNN’s Chris Cuomo has claimed multiple times on air that bump stocks, which allow semi-automatic weapons to fire at much faster rates, are “legal to purchase but illegal to use.”

He also claimed that converting a semi-automatic weapon to automatic is perfectly legal. In reality, bump stocks are both legal to purchase and use, and it is illegal to convert semi-automatic weapons to automatic.
