A badly wounded Las Vegas shooting survivor quickly stood up when President Donald Trump came to visit him in the hospital.

“I will never lie down when the President of this great country comes to shake my hand!” Gunderson, who was shot in the leg, wrote in a Facebook  post Wednesday. “There may be plenty of issues in this country but I will always respect my country, my president and my flag. Shot in the leg or not, I will stand to show my President the respect he deserves!”

He stood up with some difficulty as soon as First Lady Melania entered the room and shook her hand, then rested briefly before getting to his feet again when the president came in. He and Trump exchange a hand shake and a few words.

“Thank you so much,” Gunderson says.

In the video, Gunderson was first greeted by Melania Trump, then the president followed.

Fifty-nine people were killed and more than 500 wounded at a country music concert Sunday night, when Stephen Paddock opened fire from the 32nd floor of a hotel nearby.
