UNLV will wear special helmets honoring the victims of the Las Vegas massacre when the team takes the field Saturday night against San Diego State.

The team will be wearing entirely black graphite helmets with a red ribbon that says Las Vegas.

A football helmet isn’t going to make a large difference in the grand scheme of things, but it’s a nice gesture during a very rough time. Sometimes a humble gesture during a difficult time is a sign of hope, and a signal that things will get better.

The team will also have a tribute before the game to honor those who were killed and wounded.
