The Weinstein Company announced Sunday that its board of directors have fired the known movie producer Harvey Weinstein after reports surfaced that he had settled sexual harassment lawsuits with at least eight women.

“In light of new information about misconduct by Harvey Weinstein that has emerged in the past few days, the directors of The Weinstein Company – Robert Weinstein, Lance Maerov, Richard Koenigsberg and Tarak Ben Ammar – have determined, and have informed Harvey Weinstein, that his employment with The Weinstein Company is terminated, effective immediately,” the company’s board of representatives said in a statement to Fox News.

Weinstein’s termination comes as a New York Times report detailed countless allegations against the Hollywood studio head from current and former employees, including actress Ashley Judd. The Times uncovered at least eight cases in which Weinstein paid the women a settlement to keep quiet about his behavior. (RELATED: Top Hollywood Producer Accused Of Decades-Long Sexual Harassment)

“I bear responsibility for my actions, but the reason I am suing is because of the Times’ inability to be honest with me, and their reckless reporting. They told me lies. They made assumptions,” Weinstein told the New York Post in an exclusive interview.

The countless accusations, detailing Weinstein’s advances, came from former assistants, actresses, models and others who have all allegedly reached settlements with the film executive over the years, whom mostly spoke on the condition of anonymity.
