A shopping mall in northwest Moscow went up in flames in what appears to be a serious of multiple car explosions, according to a video posted Monday.

The fire has been ablaze since Sunday afternoon, and authorities indicate that roughly 3,000 people have been evacuated.

Emergency forces used specially equipped helicopters to drop more than 230 tons of water to help put out the flames.

One onlooker said she saw a car explode, after which people started to evacuate. She noted, however, that most people thought it was just an evacuation drill at first, and it wasn’t until the smoke began billowing into the sky above that they realized something was wrong.

Three people have reportedly been injured and one has been hospitalized, according to RT news.

People have been expressing their condolences on Twitter, and police hope they will soon uncover what caused the explosion and why it occurred.

The fire comes after another mall in northeast Moscow went up in flames only two months ago.
