Donald Trump was pleased to see that Jerry Jones is putting respect for the United States and the flag before his football team.

Following the Dallas Cowboys game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he plans to bench any players who choose to disrespect the flag. On Monday, President Trump gave a “big salute” to Jones for his decision on the continuing protests around the league.

“A big salute to Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, who will BENCH players who disrespect our Flag,” the president wrote. “‘Stand for Anthem or sit for game!'”

Jones became the first owner in the NFL to make it clear there would be disciplinary action against his players if they chose to protest. (RELATED: Dallas Cowboys Owner Will Bench Players Who Disrespect The Flag)

“Yeah, I don’t know about that, but if there is anything that is disrespectful to the flag then we will not play. You understand? If we are disrespecting the flag, then we won’t play. Period,” he told reporters following the Cowboys loss on Sunday. “We’re going to respect the flag.”
