The New York Police Department told Fox News Thursday that they have opened an investigation into sexual assault accusations against Harvey Weinstein stemming from an alleged 2004 incident.
“Based on information referenced in published news reports the NYPD is conducting a review to determine if there are any additional complaints relating to the Harvey Weinstein matter,” J. Peter Donald, of the NYPD’s DCPI told the outlet. “No filed complaints have been identified as of this time and as always, the NYPD encourages anyone who may have information pertaining to this matter to call the CrimeStoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.” (RELATED: Ed Asner Asks Chris Jansing For Kiss During Weinstein Interview)

“The NYPD is investigating an allegation of sex assault from 2004,” NYPD added.
The move comes after numerous women have spoken out and accused the film producer of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and rape.
One of the worst accusations is that of Lucia Evans, whose story was detailed in a piece by Ronan Farrow published Tuesday in the New Yorker. Evans said she met Weinstein when she was in college in 2004 at the club Cipriani Upstairs and then another time at his office. She claimed he promised to get her an acting job before becoming aggressive and forcing her into a sex act.
“I said, over and over, ‘I don’t want to do this, stop, don’t…. He’s a big guy. He overpowered me,” Evans said of her meeting with the film producer at his office.
