Las Vegas mass shooter Stephen Paddock’s laptop was missing its hard drive when police recovered it from his hotel suite, ABC News reports.

According to ABC News sources, investigators believe Paddock removed the hard drive before he committed suicide.

The report also claims that Paddock bought software to clear hard drives of their files.

Weeks later, there is still no known motive for the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history. The attack was repeatedly claimed by the Islamic State, however, there is no evidence to indicate that is the case, and federal authorities have said there is no reason to believe that is true.

Paddock was a known gambler and was apparently a wealthy man who had made substantial amount of money through real estate deals. He was not known to have any serious religious or political motivations, and his longtime girlfriend Marilou Danley claims to have no idea why Paddock did what he did. Danley was in the Philippines at the time of the shooting, and Paddock wired $100,000 to her before the shooting. (RELATED: Vegas Shooter’s Girlfriend Claims He Would Scream ‘Oh My God!’ In Bed)
