Samantha Hoopes took a very public swing at Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue for promoting fat women.

“Maybe I need to gain some weight,” Hoopes told TMZ when asked about why she’s not on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit.

She quickly said she was kidding and said that the move toward plus-size models “doesn’t put so much pressure” on her. But does anybody believe that she is serious? I certainly don’t. There’s not a woman on the planet who makes a comment of that nature without being serious.

This has been a beef of mine for a very long time, and people have accused me of being too mean or going too far.

Not true.

For those of you who might have forgotten, this is what Samantha Hoopes looks like.

Ladies and gentlemen, that is what we expect out of SI. We don’t expect or want Ashley Graham, who has been on the cover before. Even Serena Williams on the cover was a bit much.

People have also subtly suggested I should avoid these topics because I’m a man. I went out and got some opinions from women, and you know what they all had in common? Every one of them agreed with Samantha Hoopes and myself.

Do I want to be waging this war? Of course not. I’d much rather be drinking beer and watching football. However, we don’t always get to choose our fights. So, I guess Hoopes and myself will just have to keep preaching the good message. That’s what heroes do. Welcome to the team, Samantha. Happy to have you here.
