LGBTQ activists are refusing to praise actor Kevin Spacey’s after he came out as gay Monday, following allegations of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy in the 1980s.

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has refused to praise the “House of Cards” actor for coming out as a gay man on Twitter following actor Anthony Rapp claiming Spacey sexually assaulted him at age 14, reported NY Daily News.

Sarah Kate Ellis, the CEO of GLAAD, posted to Twitter that coming out shouldn’t be used to distract from allegations of sexual assault.

Coming out stories should not be used to deflect from allegations of sexual assault.

Ellis also called out the media that praised Spacey’s coming out story and ignored his sexual assault allegations of a minor.

Rapp accused the actor of allegedly sexually assaulting him at a party at age 14 when Spacey was 26 years old, in an interview with Buzzfeed News. Rapp also said he was the only minor invited to Spacey’s party.

Spacey came out as gay after the allegations of assaulting a minor surfaced. He said he had no recollection of the event and blamed the alleged incident on “drunken behavior”.
