MSNBC guest Roland Martin derided Gen. John Kelly and Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Tuesday for their discussion about the Civil War on Ingraham’s show.
Gen. Kelly said Monday night that the Civil War was due to a “lack of ability to compromise” and called Gen. Robert E. Lee an “honorable” man–comments that Martin and other media pundits have taken serious issue with. (VIDEO: CNN Panel: Gen. Kelly Rationalizing ‘Bigotry’ With Civil War Comments)
“We have too many people in this country who are white who do not know history who somehow want to glorify these Confederate leaders, and I’m telling you right now, they ain’t my founding fathers,” Martin exclaimed. “We need to have real history, not ‘his story,’ but history, and I will say to John Kelly–shame on you!”
Martin also went after Ingraham for allowing Kelly to make the comments on her show.
“Laura Ingraham, you need to go read a history book too because if you let [Kelly] lie like that in front of you, you don’t know what the hell you’re doing,” he asserted.
