Former Navy SEAL Jocko Willink said Thursday that authorities should skip sending Sayfullo Saipov to Guantanamo Bay and should instead “send him straight to hell.”
Saipov killed eight people in New York City after driving a rental truck down a bike path. Saipov shouted “Allahu Akbar” during the attack and left a note in his truck pledging allegiance to ISIS.
Willink, who was the commander of SEAL Team 3, said it “sickens” him to think that Saipov asked for an ISIS flag to be hung in his hospital room.
“When I hear people about where we’re going to send him, should we send him to Gitmo, I say we skip Gitmo and send him straight to hell where he belongs,” Willink asserted.
“Fox & Friends” cohost Brian Kilmeade asked, “But don’t you want the most intelligence possible out of him?”
“Yeah, we can gather as much as intelligence possible out of him…but eventually you’re going to hit that brick wall where you can’t get any more information out of him,” Willink said. “Let’s get him out of this planet.”
