Jon Gruden’s odds of becoming the next coach for the Tennessee Volunteers were updated Friday, and it’s starting to look like a sure thing.

Gruden opened up in the thousands, but now is down down to a shocking +150. That means a bettor will get $1.50 for every dollar wagered. Chip Kelly is substantially back at +450. That is a substantial margin between number one and two.

As I’ve said before, I was convinced the rumors of Gruden to Tennessee were an absolute joke. We hear the same rumors and see the same circus every single offseason. However, it quickly became clear something was different this time.

It was almost like a different kind of breeze was blowing through. The rumors really hadn’t started as a roar, but instead a whisper was spreading through the upper-echelons of college football. It didn’t take long before word hit the streets that Gruden’s return to college was very realistic.

Now the entire world of college football sits at the edge of our seats waiting for a decision to be made.
