House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Sunday impeaching President Donald Trump wouldn’t be a priority for her should Democrats win back control of the House in 2018.

Democrats should be focused on what the American people need and stopping the GOP tax reform bill, not impeaching Trump, Pelosi argued when CNN host Jake Tapper brought up South Carolina GOP Sen. Lindsay Graham’s claim that Democrats would fight for impeachment should they take back the House.

“I believe that whatever we do, we have responsibility first and foremost to unify the nation,” Pelosi said. “Second of all, you can’t go down any path without the facts and the law. If that’s there, perhaps it will come out in these investigations … if someone has some facts that come forth about President Trump, then let the chips fall where they may. But it’s not some place I think we should go.”

“Our election is about meeting the needs of the American people, stopping this tax bill right now, which is an insult to the intelligence of the American people and an assault on their financial security,” Pelosi said. “That’s what we should be talking about.”

Other members of the Democratic party such as Democratic Reps. Al Green of Texas and Maxine Waters of Calif. have been fighting for impeachment for a while.
