The fallout surrounding actor Kevin Spacey’s alleged assaults continued Thursday, when director Ridley Scott decided to replace Spacey in his upcoming film “All The Money In The World,” despite it already being finished.

Veteran actor Christopher Plummer will take over for Spacey, and there are no plans yet to change the Dec. 22 release date. Scott said he plans to do a re-shoot but will still get the movie out on time, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Spacey only shot a total of eight days, so replacing him is possible but will be a daunting task for the “Gladiator” director. It is unknown if Scott will also use digital effects to wipe any trace of Spacey from the film.

The movie was taken off the schedule at the American Film Institute Festival, and was facing backlash over Spacey’s involvement. Scott decided a costly re-shoot would be a safer play than risking a boycott. He informed the studio of his decision late Wednesday.

Spacey has become a pariah in Hollywood after being accused of sexual assault and possible pedophilia by several young men. On Wednesday, a former Boston news anchor claimed Spacey accosted her 18-year-old son and put his hands down the boy’s pants.

Since the news of the allegations broke, Netflix has severed ties with the two time academy award winner, and is planning to write him out of any future seasons of it’s hit series “House of Cards.”
