The ratings for NFL “Sunday Night Football” surged by 17 percent over last week’s game and was the highest rated primetime game since week 1 of the season, according to Variety.

Last night’s game, which saw the Philadelphia Eagles dominate the Dallas Cowboys 37-9, scored a 13.5/22 in metered market results for the NFL and NBC. In comparison, the New England Patriot’s 41-16 rout of the Denver Broncos the week prior scored a 5.8 rating among adults ages 18-49 with 17.51 million people tuning in. (RELATED: NFL Ratings Tank–Worst Viewership In Nearly Two Decades)

The Sunday night game not only beat last week’s numbers, but was up 14 percent over the same week last year when the Green Bay Packers took on the Washington Redskins. That game scored a 6.2/19 in the key demo and 18.73 million viewers.

To make last night’s “SNF” ratings even more impressive the game was up against the 2017 American Music Awards in some parts of the country. The AMAs held steady in the key demo ratings and saw a bump up in total viewership from 2016’s show.

During the game, the players of both teams stood for the national anthem despite protests earlier in the day that saw players at home and in Mexico sitting during the “Star Spangled Banner.”
