Netflix has another massive hit on its hands with the newly released series “The Punisher.”

I’d put the Marvel universe action hero series on my list to watch the moment I heard about it coming out. I wasn’t able to get it when it was initially released, but a guy in the office pretty much shamed me for not being on top of the series.

With the Lions not playing Sunday I found myself with a huge opening in my schedule. I decided there was no better time to fire it up. It was absolutely worth it. I’m only a few episodes in, and it’s been incredible every step of the way.

Jon Bernthal plays lead character Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, and Westworld’s Ben Barnes also plays a major role. I won’t give away any spoilers because I don’t want to ruin it for anybody and I’m not sure how it’s all going to play out.

However, I will say that the show is pretty much a never ending body count compilation through the first few episodes. The Punisher stacks bodies from nearly the exact start of the show. He just hammers them to death. The character has an overwhelming tendency to kill people up close and personal, although he blows a guy’s head off with a rifle during the opening scene.

This show is not for those with a weak stomach. Not at all. It is gory, it is violent and it can be brutal at times. However, it’s worth watching.

The only problem I have with the series so far is that there is a really cheesy part with a white guy in an NRA hat preaching about tyranny. It’s painful and poorly written. Other than that one scene, the show has been magnificent.

Make sure to check it out because it’s one of the best shows available right now.
