Kevin Sumlin will reportedly be the next head football coach at Arizona State after he was fired by Texas A&M over the weekend.
TexAgs.com founder Billy Liucci broke the news Sunday when he tweeted, “Hearing that Kevin Sumlin will be the next Arizona State head coach. Would be surprised if a deal isn’t done in very short order.”

There are also many other people in the know who appear to believe that Sumlin to ASU is probably a done deal.

Arizona State has long been rumored as a landing spot for Kevin Sumlin. https://t.co/eUyPIEx6Vj

If Arizona State ends up with Kevin Sumlin then they made the right move. Short of that they aren’t getting a better coach than Todd Graham.

I always felt Sumlin was wildly under-appreciated by the Aggies. Johnny Manziel’s success set expectations way too high, and then we all know the problems the Heisman winner left behind. That’s a tough situation for any coach, and yet, Sumlin still won games.
Arizona State will have much lower expectations, but will have plenty of good recruiting, solid facilities and money. It could be the perfect fit.
