MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle blasted President Donald Trump for calling the media “fake news” right before introducing her guest, Dan Rather.

Dan Rather, of course, left CBS Evening News shortly after reporting on fake documents that were critical of George W. Bush’s Air National Guard service. The authenticity of the documents was quickly called into question by other news outlets, and Rather apologized for running with the hack-job story.

Nonetheless, some media personalities have turned to Rather to offer insight into Trump’s “war on the media” and why Trump constantly calls them fake news. None of these interviews seem to focus on Rather’s own major reporting errors. (RELATED: Dan Rather: Media’s ‘Job Is To Be Honest’)

Ruhle introduced Rather as a “veteran journalist” and an “icon,” and asked him for his “reaction to President Trump directly attacking and denigrating American journalists.”

Rather called it “disappointing” and only briefly mentioned that he has made “mistakes.”
