Anna Nicole Smith would have turned 50 years old today and even though her life was cut tragically short, she still made an enormous impact during her 39 years of life.
Smith grew up in a small town in Texas with modest means, but it wasn’t long before she became one of the most recognized models in the United States. At the age of 15, Smith, born Vickie Lynn Hogan, dropped out of high school and the rest is history. At 17 she got married, then began her modeling career, ditched her given name and became the Anna Nicole Smith many came to know and love.
Smith was one of the most famous celebrities of the 1990s, appearing in her own reality show and modeling for Playboy magazine and Guess. However, some will also remember Smith for the controversy surrounding her billionaire husband’s estate and the model’s struggle with prescription pills that eventually took her life.
