Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore said Monday the multiple allegations of sexual misconduct against him are comparable to the probe on President Donald Trump about possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
At a campaign event Monday night in Henagar, Ala., Moore told his supporters that the sexual allegations against him are false and compared them to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Trump’s alleged contact with Russia during the 2016 presidential election.
“It’s no different than when the Washington Post brought out the Russia investigation at a time when President Trump is trying to get his agenda passed,” Moore said. “That’s exactly what they’re doing. They’re taking attention away, and they’re not getting anything they’re doing. They’re taking attention away from the Senate, and the Congress, who can’t pass legislation.”
The Senate candidate also jabbed current politicians in his speech, saying all of the sexual allegations against him, including rape, were started to take attention away from the Senate and House for not passing legislation.

Moore’s comments come the same day The Associated Press reported Trump would not campaign for the Senate candidate who is facing several allegations of sexual misconduct with minors. (RELATED: AP: Trump Won’t Campaign For Moore)
Trump’s daughter and adviser Ivanka has come out against Moore, however, Trump has yet to condemn the Senate candidate. He has instead chosen to go after Moore’s opponent.
