Chaos erupted at a preschool Nativity play Sunday when Mary put a sheep in a headlock and wrestled baby Jesus with cameras rolling.

A 3-year-old girl playing Mary put a 2-year-old girl playing a sheep in a headlock and wrestled with her onstage after the sheep stole baby Jesus in the middle of the play’s production at a church in White Pine, Tenn., according to KXAN. Cameras continued to roll, parents laughed, and the choir sang on as the duel of wills continued.

Tana Benson, mother of Teegan, the girl who played the sheep, captured the fight on film and posted it on Facebook where it first went viral.

Benson told KHOU that her daughter Teegan just loves babies and that she could not deny her love for baby Jesus at that moment.

“(We have) a sheep stealing the Baby Jesus and Mary with the WWE Smackdown,” Benson told KHOU, laughing. “(Mary) is a stickler for the rules. So (she) was not having it, and she knew we were not supposed to touch the Baby Jesus so she made sure that Teegan knew for sure that that was unacceptable.”

The other parents in the audience looked on at a loss, unsure of whether to intervene or let the added drama play out. Through laughter and tears they decided to wait until the play was over to intervene, lest they cause the scene to escalate. Benson and the other parents took the incident in stride and said they view it in good humor.

“These kids both love our church, love being here and both have a passion for Jesus, and so I think the message that we want to get across is He is the reason for Christmas,” Benson told KHOU.
