BuzzFeed science editor Kelly Oakes made a head scratching comment on Twitter about communism last week, and actor James Woods got a screenshot of the statement before she deleted it.
The tweet read: “All I want for Christmas is full Communism now.”

A spokesperson for BuzzFeed was contacted by The Wrap, but declined to comment on the story. They also reached out to Okaes, but she also declined to weigh in.
Communism is said to have been responsible for the death over 100 million people in countries like China and the former Soviet Union, according to The Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation.
This is the second BuzzFeed reporter in as many months to commiserate with communism. Back in November, Blake Montgomery, BuzzFeed’s tech and protest reporter, spoke out against President Donald Trump declaring Nov. 7 as the National Day for Victims of Communism.
In the now-deleted tweet, Montgomery said focusing on victims of communism was just a “white nationalist talking point.” He later apologized for the radical tweet and said his intentions were misunderstood.
“I didn’t mean in any way to diminish the many real victims of communism, and my tweet was a bad misinterpretation of the president’s declaration. I’ve deleted it,” he tweeted. “I cover white nationalists, and they use that language a lot, which is why I made that very dumb mistake.”
