A U.S. Air Force base in in Britain has been placed in lockdown after reports of a car attempting to ram the gates.

Suffolk Police released a statement saying they were responding to a “significant incident.” Reports suggest one person has been taken into custody, but that the situation is ongoing.

“It was described to me as some sort of arguments at the base gates. The situation is ongoing,” Sky News Defense Correspondent Alistair Bunkall said. “The base remains in lockdown. People have to stay in their offices; you turn off the lights; you lock the doors, you draw the curtains or blinds around the windows to make it look like no one is around.”

Vehicles have become increasingly popular as a weapon for terrorists. Junead Khan, 25, was sentenced to life in prison after plotting to attack U.S. military personnel in the United Kingdom. The base in Suffolk, RAF Mildenhall, was among his targets.
