“Thomas The Tank Engine” and “Paw Patrol” are “fascist” cartoons that are making children conform to traditional gender norms and desensitizing them to “social and gender equality,” a CNN article stated Friday.

Thomas The Tank Engine” is a long-running fictional cartoon about a young steam train named Thomas and a group of fellow trains that ride around learning lessons about growing up, solving problems and working together as a group. “Paw Patrol” is about a young rescue dog named Ryder who goes around with his friends helping rescue folks.

While many young children enjoy watching the fictional cartoon, the CNN piece stated the show is bad for them for a host of reasons.

One of the main problems the outlet has is both of the cartoons’ protagonists are apparently “white males.” This is a large problem for children because that means Thomas and Ryder “look like most figures in position of authority in the real world,” a fact that will not be “lost on children.”

The piece says that children tuning in for an episode of either cartoon are really “tuning in for a regular dose of primary-colored authoritarianism.”

The entire article can be summed up with the final graph:

Here’s an idea, gratis, for the creative team behind of “Paw Patrol” and “Thomas,” should they want to broaden their appeal to parents without alienating their fan base: Ryder and Sir Topham Hatt retire and are replaced by their equally domineering sisters. This, in turn, boosts the social status of all the non-male characters. Children would still get the satisfaction of immersing themselves in an orderly universe where rules are rules, and everyone is in his or her place. Just without the white guy on top.
