WikiLeaks Founder Julian Assange’s Twitter account mysteriously and inexplicably disappeared from the platform Sunday night on Christmas Eve.

It eventually returned without much explanation the next morning, meaning it is so far not clear if the account was purposefully suspended by Assange or Twitter, or if there was an unsuspecting glitch in the system. Twitter has not responded to The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for explanation.

Even weirder, the amount of followers of the account abruptly and significantly dropped upon reappearing, according to TechCrunch.

It’s also not even certain if Assange is aware his social media profile went down, at least for public view, as he made several posts on the platform in stride the next morning. (RELATED: Julian Assange Wants The Fired Google Employee To Work For Wikileaks)

The first post following the hiatus was an animated depiction of Santa Claus presumably writing down WikiLeaks under the “Good” section of his “naughty list.”

The next piece of virtual content was a short video of a Corgi anxiously waiting for a toy to be thrown his way with a link to WikiLeaks donation page and a “2018” caption.

To add to all of the confusion, the U.S. Navy soon after reportedly tweeted “Julian Assange” because, according to the service branch, it was a trending term on Twitter and an authorized user made “an inadvertent keystroke.”
